We’ve spotted an increase in cautions and caution levels recently from a lot of countries, and shared a lot of them in this week’s newsletter. Check them out as you are probably in some of the countries. We’d be interested to know if you agree.

NEWS
Travel warnings on the rise?

After Australia issued a high-level of caution warning for Indonesia (including Bali) amongst several other countries at the end of May, and an increase in countries travel warnings to the US, how often do you take note of government-issued warnings?
According to TTW, countries such as Canada, UK, Germany, Japan are urging caution when traveling to the US due to border issues, discrimination and public safety concerns.
Do you take these into account when you travel? Is there cause for concern or are these just part of traveling to different places with different culture or political ideals?
WHAT ELSE…
🔋 No change for many of you A lot more airlines are jumping on lithium battery restrictions, so best to read this as it’ll be universal before long.
✈️ Fly with a friend… Several US Airlines seem to be penalising you for flying alone.
🙏 Etiquette? What etiquette? There are unwritten - and written - rules for being a responsible coliver.
🇺🇸 Will they talk with their feet? Americans have chosen a slightly surprising country as one they’d most like to move to.

TRAVEL
Are you a responsible nomad?

We all travel quite a bit, yes? At least more than the average citizen. How often does the sustainability of how you do it come into your thinking? Sometimes, perhaps.
Well, meet Gabby. Many years inside the hospitality industry across many countries showed her what it’s like from the inside, but now - as a nomad entrepreneur - she’s passionately making waves in the sustainable travel game.
“TRAppe’s mission is to make responsible travel feel effortless, stylish and fun.
I believe that travelling better isn’t about making one giant leap, it’s about making a difference, one small, thoughtful travel decision at a time.”
Here are 3 tips that will make your travel more sustainable and leave a more postive impact:
Make an effort to connect with locals for a more authentic experience.
You have the opportunity to make more meaningful connections with the local community than the regular travellers, which leads to a more authentic travel experience for you. Seek out opportunities to engage with locals, whether it's through a community event or simply chatting at a local café. You’ll contribute to the local economy in a more personal and impactful way.Choose sustainable accommodations to support local communities.
Prioritise planet-friendly and community-driven accommodations that are locally owned. Try to choose a place that reduces its environmental footprint while benefiting the local economy, and supporting small businesses.Contribute to local economies with thoughtful spending.
Support businesses that are locally owned, give back to the local community or those that employ locals and promote fair labour practices. You’ll contribute to the economic well-being of the community you’re visiting.
A bonus tip (Gabby had loads!) - ask locals for recommendations for places to eat, stay and play. Gabby’s favorite way to connect is by shamelessly inviting herself to locals’ family homes to experience the culture firsthand. 99% of the time, locals have welcomed her with open arms.

TRAVEL
If this man hasn’t inspired you yet, then read this

Anthony Bourdain. For many of you, just the name will have your mind jetting off to somewhere far flung (or local if where you are right now is far flung!).
If you haven’t heard of/read/watched him yet, if you aren’t in a travel mood at the moment, you soon will be. He turned street food vendors into celebrities, back street dives into the hottest spots to visit, but more importantly inspired many to travel.
Here are some of his best quotes that will make you smile, feel sad, or get motivated in whatever you are doing:
“Your body is not a temple, it’s an amusement park. Enjoy the ride.”
“Luck is not a business model.”
“Travel is about the gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown.”
“I don’t have to agree with you to like you or respect you.”
“I’m a big believer in winging it. Letting the happy accident happen is what a lot of vacation itineraries miss, I think, and I’m always trying to push people to allow those things to happen rather than stick to some rigid itinerary.”
“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s OK.”
If you don’t know the chef-turned-travel-legend then this post is a good place to start.

THE LIST
Only for the TRUE museophiles, probably

Museums are still a go-to for getting a feel for the history and culture of places you visit. In some cases the types of museums also say a lot about the mindset and interests of the people who live there.
Take these, for example. Some of the more “interesting” museums you’ll find on the road!
Spam Museum, Minnesota, USA; Yes, that’s right. Spam. The “meat”.
Museum of Broken Relationships, Zagreb, Croatia; We think nomads can relate 😅
David Hasselhoff Museum, Berlin, Germany; Showing our age here, but Knight Rider and Baywatch shaped a lot of childhoods!
Mad Max Museum, Silverton, Australia; Even more aging, but luckily for you younger nomads you’ll know the re-gen movies.
Dog Collar Musem, Kent, UK; Apparently more interesting than it sounds…especially if you like dogs.
MUSA, Cancun, Mexico; This one is underwater, so bring your snorkel.
These are just a selection from the research done by Love Exploring. See their whole list and detailing here.
